Who is eligible for an award in 2025?

YOUNG LGBTQ+ PEOPLE currently:

  • enrolled and studying at a U.K. secondary school, sixth form, further education college or university (on-campus or online)

  • working as an intern, apprentice (including T Levels) or graduate with a U.K. student employer

  • completing vocational training and/or employment

  • not in employment, education or training (selected categories)

U.K. STUDENT EMPLOYERS currently hiring apprentices (including T Levels), graduates and/or interns

SECONDARY SCHOOLS, SIXTH FORMS, FURTHER EDUCATION COLLEGES and UNIVERSITIES

How are the QSAs judged?

The Queer Student Awards are judged by a panel of student recruitment industry experts, queer influencers and previous finalists and winners.

What are the 2025 categories?

We have 11 categories open to enter which celebrate young LGBTQ people and the schools, colleges, universities and employers that support them whilst studying and in the workplace.

Listed alphabetically, these include:

  • ACTIVIST OF THE YEAR

  • ALLY OF THE YEAR

  • COMMUNITY INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR

  • RISING STAR OF THE YEAR

  • ROLE MODELS OF THE YEAR: BUSINESS LEADER, EDUCATION AND STUDENT

  • SCHOOL/COLLEGE OF THE YEAR

  • STUDENT EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR

  • UNIVERSITY OF THE YEAR

  • UNSUNG HERO

Each category has specific judging criteria and you will be asked to provide evidence against these. There is a strict word count for each completed entry, and you are encouraged to provide documents, files, hyperlinks, photos and videos to support your entry.

  • Read our TOP TIPS for entering - we strongly recommend that everyone entering reads these before submitting entries.

  • EMPLOYERS ONLY - complete your booking form no later than 5pm Tuesday 11th March before entering.
