ABI PHILLIPS
University of Bath
Abi (she/her) was nominated for her tireless allyship supporting LGBTQ+ staff and students in her role as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion lead at the University of Bath. This has included work that facilitates names changes for trans and non-binary people and support with an LGBTQ+ gap analysis to improve inclusion on campus in the future. She has also been recognised for the personal and professional support given to the person who nominated her when they came out as a lesbian.
FINLAY MCGHEE
AstraZeneca
Finlay (he/him) was nominated for his allyship during his time as an Industrial Placement Student at AstraZeneca. His active role as an ally within their PT&D Pride group has seen him improve processes and globally distributed ally resource packs, whilst continuously working to educate himself and others, including senior leaders. A highlight shared facilitation of an event to raise awareness of asexuality.
JADE ROWLAND
Sage
Jade (she/her) was nominated for her unwavering support and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to the instrumental role she has played in promoting LGBTQ+ representation at Sage, she has amplified voices and actively participated in campaigns, protests and events including one which hosted Valentino, the creator of the intersex flag. Her commitment to continuous self-reflection, openness to feedback, and willingness to learn and grow was also noted
JENNIFER DAY
University of Essex Students’ Union
Jennifer (she/her) was nominated for the allyship she has shown the LGBTQ+ community in her role as Engagement and Democracy Manager at the University of Essex Students’ Union. She has helped to launch the annual trans vigil, secured funding for LGBTQ+ history month and successfully obtained a specific common room for liberated communities.
RACHEL BRIGHT
University of Wolverhampton
Rachel (she/they) was nominated for the pivotal work she has done as an ally, in their role as Student Voice Co-Ordinator at the University of Wolverhampton, ensuring that the voices of all students are heard, understood and represented. Her visible stance supporting LGBTQ+ staff and students is recognised and trusted by students on campus. The ways in which students feel comfortable to both confide and seek support from her was also noted.
