ALLY OF THE YEAR

The individual whose actions stand in solidarity with, and openly supports, the advancement of issues affecting groups and individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.

Individuals can not nominate themselves for this category.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  1. What qualities the person you have nominated has that makes them an ally for the LGBTQ+ community, especially young people.

  2. Specific examples of actions they have taken which challenges discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community and/or educates others about the issues that they face.

  3. Any additional actions they have taken which openly support and advocate for issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. 

ROLE MODEL OF THE YEAR:
Business Leader

The LGBTQ+ professional whose work most inspires the people around them. 

This category is open to nominations that recognise any LGBTQ+ professional who is employed on a part or full-time basis in a corporate setting. We encourage nominations for people working at all levels and in all departments including chairs/co-chairs of LGBTQ+ employee resource groups. 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • What qualities the person nominated has that makes them a positive role model for young LGBTQ+ people.

  • Specific examples of specific LGBTQ+ focused work which they have led or been significantly involved in delivering. 

  • How their work impacts upon young LGBTQ+ people.

RISING STAR OF THE YEAR

The LGBTQ+ apprentice, graduate or intern who has best demonstrated their ambition and potential to become a future business leader. 

This category is open to nominations that recognise any LGBTQ+ person:

  • currently working and/or studying on an apprenticeship or graduate training programme, or;

  • currently completing an undergraduate internship of at least 6 months in length.  

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • What qualities the person nominated has that makes them a rising star within your business. This could include how they have continually exceeded individual expectations and/or outperformed other apprentices, graduates and/or interns.

  • How they have invested time and energy into the advancement of LGBTQ+ inclusion within the workplace and beyond.

  • What lasting impact their work has had upon your business and/or the LGBTQ+ community.

STUDENT EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR

This award celebrates the student employer who has created, or is working towards creating, the most inclusive working environment for its LGBTQ+ apprentices, graduates and interns.

This category is open to nominations from any U.K. student employer currently hiring apprentices and/or graduates. Internship opportunities could also be available but are not compulsory to enter.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • How your LGBTQ+ employee resource group/network has promoted LGBTQ+ inclusivity internally and created a supportive work environment for LGBTQ+ employees. 

  • What LGBTQ+ inclusive recruitment and/or onboarding strategies you use to support apprentices, graduates and/or interns in their transition from education into the workplace, and throughout their training programme. This should include information on how you are monitoring and evaluating effectiveness. 

  • How your LGBTQ+ apprentices, graduates and/or interns support school, college and campus recruitment activities. This should include the impact that they have.

Student employers are asked to pay £75 per entry.
Funds raised by entries from employers will be used to keep the event free for students attending. The names of employers who contribute to the event in this way will be shared with students when they claim their tickets.
