    • completing vocational training and/or employment (including T levels)

    • not in employment, education or training (selected categories)

    • Activist of the Year

    • Ally of the Year

    • Community Initiative of the Year

    • Role Model of the Year: Student

    • Unsung Hero of the Year

QUEER OF THE YEAR

The individual student whose winning work and achievements have had the biggest impact and best embody the founding values of The Queer Student Awards.

This category can not be entered. The winner is decided by the young LGBTQ+ people on the judging panel. They are provided with all of the notes from the other judges and supported by the head judge to make their decision.

The winner is chosen from the following categories (listed alphabetically):

  • Activist

  • Rising Star

  • Role Model: Student

  • Unsung Hero

The ‘Queer of the Year’ will be someone that is seen as a legacy builder. They are likely to have focused their work on campaigns, projects and initiatives that ensure positive changes for LGBTQ+ people in the UK - and potentially further afield - are upheld for years to come. They will often be working alongside others to ensure their efforts won’t go to waste.
