ALLY OF THE YEAR
The individual whose actions stand in solidarity with, and openly supports, the advancement of issues affecting groups and individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.
Individuals can not nominate themselves for this category.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
What qualities the person you have nominated has that makes them an ally for the LGBTQ+ community, especially young people.
Specific examples of actions they have taken which challenges discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community and/or educates others about the issues that they face.
Any additional actions they have taken which openly support and advocate for issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
ROLE MODEL OF THE YEAR:
Education
The LGBTQ+ professional, in an educational setting, whose work most inspires the people around them.
This category is open to nominations that recognise any LGBTQ+ professional who is employed, on a part or full-time basis or as a contractor, in an educational setting such as a school, college or university. This includes classroom teachers, support staff, careers advisors, university lecturers and full-time sabbatical roles in student unions. Postgraduate students are also eligible in this category.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
What qualities the person nominated has that makes them a positive role model for young LGBTQ+ people.
Specific examples of specific LGBTQ+ focused work which they have led or been significantly involved in delivering.
How their work positively impacts upon young LGBTQ+ people.
SCHOOL/COLLEGE OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates the school or college which has created, or is working towards creating, the most inclusive learning environment for its LGBTQ+ students and staff.
This category is open to nominations from any U.K. school, sixth form or further education college currently enrolling students.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
How your school/college has created a supportive working and learning environment for LGBTQ+ students and staff - this could include, but is not limited to, groups that are run in-school to support your LGBTQ+ students.
How you are monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of the positive interventions in place.
How LGBTQ+ students and staff have been positively impacted upon.
UNIVERSITY OF THE YEAR
The university or higher education institution which has created, or is working towards creating, the most inclusive learning environment for its LGBTQ+ students and staff.
This category is open to nominations from any U.K. university or higher education establishment currently enrolling students.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
How your LGBTQ+ staff network has promoted LGBTQ+ inclusivity on campus and created a supportive work environment for LGBTQ+ employees.
What LGBTQ+ inclusive strategies are used to support students studying at your university. This should include information on how you are monitoring and evaluating effectiveness.
How your LGBTQ+ employees and students support activities on campus to attract and engage prospective students. This should include the impact that they have.
