QSA Terms & Conditions
Nomination entries for The Queer Student Awards are open to individuals who identify with the LGBTQ+ community, those who know those being nominated personally and/or professionally, and organisations or institutions who have made contributions to the improvement of LGBTQ+ lives, work with the LGBTQ+ community or support LGBTQ+ causes.
By entering The Queer Student Awards you are agreeing to the terms and conditions listed below.
Nominations for 2024 open on Tuesday 10 December 2024 and close at 2359 on Tuesday 25th March 2025.
There will be an additional deadline of midday on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 for individuals long listed. More information to be provided privately once entries close.
Only nominations that are received using the entry form will be considered by the judging panel. Please submit only one entry per form.
Duplicate entries which have been copied and pasted across two or more categories will not be passed to the judges.
Up to 5 pieces of supporting evidence submitted with each entry. This could include:
Hyperlinks to publicly accessible websites, social media channels or cloud storage AND/OR
Documents/files such as .pdf .doc .ppt.
Photos/graphics
All supporting documents/files should be labelled with the name of the category and person/organisation being nominated.
The work recognised within nominations must have taken place between Thursday 4th April 2024 and Tuesday 25th March 2025.
Young LGBTQ+ people entering/being nominated must have been 16-24 years of age during the period Thursday 4th April 2024 and Tuesday 25th March 2025. This does not apply to postgraduate/mature students over the age of 24.
We reserve the right to ask for verification with regards to your enrolment for study at any U.K. secondary school, sixth form, further education college and university.
The Queer Student Awards has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards homophobic, biphobic and transphobic hate speech and all other forms of discrimination. Any entries submitted which contain these will be responded to directly, and if deemed necessary reported to the police.
The judging panel will review all entries after the closing date and the shortlist for each category will be announced on (date TBC). The decisions made by the judging panel are final.
All of the judges supporting The Queer Student Awards have agreed to keep the judging process and its outcomes confidential. Any attempts to contact the judges with the intention of interfering with the judging process and/or to influence its outcome(s) will result in the relevant nominations being disqualified.
Notice will be given to the shortlisted finalists, and Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited reserves the right to withdraw a nomination from the shortlist if no response is received within 10 working days. Those shortlisted will be contacted via the email hello@thequeerstudentawards.co.uk only. We advise that you check junk and/or set filters/rules to ensure our emails are received and responded to within the timeframe(s) given.
Individuals, organisations and institutions entering the awards are strongly advised to pay attention to all of the information provided regarding entering The Queer Student Awards on this website, in particular our top tips page.
It is the responsibility of the nominator to ensure that any individuals nominated already openly share their sexuality and/or gender identity.
Those nominating somebody else must provide the name and email address of the person they are nominating at the point of submission. It is the responsibility of everyone entering to make those who are being nominated aware of this prior to submission.
Everyone attending the live final either in-person or online will be required to have a ticket. Student finalists will be offered a free ticket to attend.
Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by those nominating and/or shortlisted/the winners, as a result of entering The Queer Student Awards. Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to those nominating and/or shortlisted/the category winners’ or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with The Queer Student Awards.
By submitting a nomination(s) to The Queer Student Awards you give:
Permission for duplications of your nomination(s) to be made, and shared with members of the judging panel
Permission for summaries of the words submitted in your nomination(s) and/or direct quotes to be published on thequeerstudentawards.co.uk, the QSA social media channels and in relevant press releases;
Young LGBTQ+ people attending who are not finalists can use the discount code provided for reduced price tickets. A valid NUS extra card/TOTUM card will need to be shown when checking-in at the venue. We will also accept UNIDAYs, StudentBeans or a valid student ID.
All ticket sales are final. Tickets can be transferred to another person but this must be done no later than 24 hours before the event.

Any complaints regarding The Queer Student Awards should be addressed directly to Steve Keith (Founder and Event Director) via email at steve@thequeerstudentawards.co.uk.
It is assumed by the promoter that all individuals, organisations and institutions nominating have reviewed our privacy policy prior to submission. Submission confirms this.
Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited reserves the right to extend the nomination period in the event that the entries received are of insufficient quality or quantity and/or the right to cancel relevant categories affected by this, prior to the shortlist announcement.
Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, The Queer Student Awards and/or individual categories at any time, with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control. The decision of Steve Keith Curious Consulting Uk Limited in all matters under its control is final and binding.

‘THE POWER IN COMMUNITY’ COMPETITION (specific terms and conditions):
Entries will open at midday on Tuesday 5th February and close at 2359 on Tuesday 25th March 2025.
Feedback from the judges for the community groups shortlisted will be shared within 7 working days of the shortlist announcement, along with information on how to prepare for the final.
Finalists must pitch their project ideas in-person at the venue on Thursday 26th June. The cost of travel to the event, and accommodation if needed, will not be covered by the Queer Student Awards.
The £1,000 investment will be transferred to the winning community group once verification with the relevant account holder has been completed.
The winning community group will be asked to provide regular updates on progress delivering their project.
