What’s new for 2025?

Just like the LGBTQ+ community, The Queer Student Awards are always evolving.

Each year we use feedback that has been shared to improve the event in ways which help us to celebrate more young LGBTQ+ people and to support the important grassroots work that they are doing.

So what’s new in 2025 for the QSAs?

  • A NEW HOST CITY

Having now hosted The Queer Student Awards on Zoom and in Manchester, followed by Birmingham, it’s time for a new host city in 2025. We will be revealing our host city for QSA2025 very soon!

  • COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE YEAR: THE CATEGORY WITH A TWIST IN 2025...

You may have noticed that we have a regular category missing for QSA2025…

On Tuesday 7th January we will be announcing a twist to the Community Group of the Year category.

  • CHANGES TO THE JUDGING CRITERIA

We have reviewed the judging criteria across all categories to ensure that each category now has the same number, and added in an opportunity for everyone entering to share additional information they think is relevant that the criteria doesn’t cover.

For the categories that recognise individuals we have also focused more heavily on the qualities that these people have that makes them stand out.

  • IMPACT AND THE QUEER OF THE YEAR

We have retired the Impact of the Year category and built the judging criteria for this into the Queer of the Year. We felt that every single finalist has impact on the LGBTQ+ community and that the biggest impact should be recognised in this category.

  • NATIONAL QUEER STUDENTS DAY

The UK’s first national awareness day dedicated to LGBTQ+ students and early careers professional will be taking place on Wednesday 5th February. Find out more at queerstudents.day
